This song began as a sort of poem, one that I'd started while sitting at the bar inside the Silver Dollar Casino, next to the SeaTac Airport in Seattle, WA. I had just came off a two month tour and was heading home. The gentleman next to me - who was loudly declaring on the phone to someone that he "could do anything anyone asks" - had just won $500 playing a game called Pull Tabs, though I think his bar tab was somewhere around $300. The rest of the song I sort of pieced together months later while on a short run up through Missouri with a songwriter friend of mine, Andy Adams. We holed up in this little cabin outside Springfield that had be so graciously offered to us by the owners of the venue we'd played a couple of nights before. I finished the song there.
