Count On One Hand

from Placeholder (A Demo Album) by Levi Parham

about

It took me quite a few years as an adult to realize I was a bit of a loner. I love my family and friends, and I love making new ones, but I am terrible about picking up and leaving and not remaining in contact with people who were at one time in my life very important to me. I used to get a little upset with myself over it. But I think that's just the way life goes. Everybody's heading in different directions, every now and then you link up with someone, but sooner or later your paths might veer off away from one another. My grandpa always told me, that if you live to be an old man, and you can count on one hand how many friends you've got, you're lucky. That's always stuck with me. I wrote this song about a close songwriter friend of mine, who I don't always call or hang out with, but our paths seem to keep steady in the same direction. So this is a song for him.
